I'm going to try to catch up a little bit. I got busy with work and got behind. I figured I would, though, hehe.
Day 8 is about special cleaning rituals or practices. I know some FLYladies, and I know some domestic witches who do a room or 'zone' a day. Me? I practice...avoidance. Yup, that's right. I'm a damned slob. I love to cook, but I hate to clean. Fortunately, my boyfriend deemed it his duty to keep the kitchen clean so the delicious foodz would keep a-comin', so my special cleaning practice right now is asking the Aussie.
But...
I don't want it to be that way. I really don't. Help me? What are some things you do to make cleaning less of a pain in the hindquarters? Knowing it *has* to be done? Or do you invoke a deity, someone for company? Do you clean to music? What do you listen as you clean? Please, I'm begging you for tips and tricks to turn me into the gourmet slob that I am and into someone who is slightly more domestic. I'll never learn sewing or anything like that, but I can at least keep my house from being a hazardous area. I'm only half-joking...

My kitchen often looks like a disaster area. But I make sure to always have a small clean corner for cooking. and i try to do as many of the smaller things that make one big clean(ish) kitchen on the spot or while waiting for something - the dishwasher, emtpied and reloaded, takes less than ten minutes. handcleaning the sharp knives takes two minutes. Preparing the trash to be taken out five. There is always a dish for things such as potato peels, so I can throw them away more easily. Small stuff like that helps me keep the kitchen clean without going crazy.
Plus I try to have as little in the kitchen as possible. That goes for tools as well. The less there is, the less I have to clean.
Just had a nice, loooong comment, and then somehow deleted it... kill me now... x_X
I have tons of trouble, too, keeping my kitchen clean & organized.
I've had a bit better of a time since I chose my One Word (committed) in keeping my shit together & organized. ^-^
One thing I do is rinse my dishes immediately when I'm done with them, and then put them into the sink. That way they're not all nasty & gunky & much easier to load into the dishwasher.
As for music, I love to listen to Gogol Bordello, Florence & the Machine, Damh the Bard... also Rob Zombie, Rammstein, Korn & one of my favorite podcasts for Industrial music, The Requiem. ^-^
It has also helped me to keep in mind that if my kitchen is my sacred space, then I want it to be a space that I treat well. Just keeping this in mind has helped me be more motivated to keep my kitchen at least somewhat more tidy. ^-^
If you keep looking for what motivates you or inspires you, you will find it. ^-^
In the mean time, at least your honey bun is domestically inclined. =D
XOXO
Me too me too me too. I tried to be a FLYlady, and it just didn't work for me. We want a clean house, we just don't want to clean it!
I'll be watching the comments too!
Here's my post: http://www.endomental.com/2013/02/kitchen-witch-challenge-day-8.html
If I'm really into a particular podcast, I have to clean just to do something because I don't want to turn on the tv or feel like I'm doing nothing. There are loads out there for any conceivable topic now so I've got a backlog.
yep I wish that I was naturally more clean and tidy. It helps me to work with the moon, I do more sorting, cleaning and tidying during the waning moon then much less when it is waxing and I concentrate on my blog/business side of things. Except when my mum is coming to stay then I clean top to bottom lol!

I try to clean a little at a time, especially when it comes to the kitchen. While I'm waiting on water to boil, I'll sweep the floor. When waiting on something to heat, I spray vinegar on all the surfaces and either let it sit for a while (if I'm lazy/in a hurry) or scrub it off then. I do keep a playlist on my computer so that if I ever come across a song that makes me feel like cleaning (which is a rare song, ha!), I add it to the list. I'm always thankful to myself to keeping it updated once I'm actually cleaning. Finding some comfort, almost like a state of meditation in the repetition of actions like sweeping and in the daily routines I form (emptying the dishwasher while the coffee brews each morning, for example) also help me keep up the habit.
