Gift from a Friend - The Buddhist Prayer Deck

Debs gave me this deck before I returned to Turkey. In honor of her visit, I thought I would start working through the deck with you all, one card at a time.

Today's prayer is a prayer of truth and awareness.

"When the lamp of the Buddha's mind illuminates sentient beings, eons of darkness are immediately dispelled." ~ Avatamsaka Sutra (2nd - 3rd century CE)

What does this say to you?

Oh, and for dessert today - jasmine rice cooked with 1/2 coconut milk and 1/4 water, sweetened with sugar and seasoned to taste with ground cardamom, topped with mango slices. Yum.

Thanks so much for the suggestion for practice readings! I'm excited to get home & haul out my deck. I too am still in search of "my" deck... I have one that I use (the Deviant Moon Tarot), but I'm still on the look out for my perfect deck... ^-^

Hmmmmm... What does the Avatamsaka Sutra say to me...

At a first glance, it says to me that when we're willing to think outside our boxes, or dispel the box all together, our ignorance will be replaced with knowledge (which will hopefully be followed by wisdom). This Sutra could have been written with me specifically in mind, as these past few years I feel as if I've been finally able to eradicate the religious box given to me by my parents since I was a child. I am able to explore areas of knowledge I didn't even know existed before. And I literally feel like my blinders have been removed, the moon has come out from behind the clouds & illuminates not just a single path, but a whole vista of wonder awaiting my exploration. ^-^

Thanks so much for sharing this! You seem to have the most wonderful friends & family. You are a lucky lady! : D
Hope all is well with you & that you're enjoying your new deck! ^-^
