Easy Kitchen Smudging

I just tried this out and it worked pretty well after I turned down the heat.

You need:

1 sheet of aluminum foil, folded half, then half again
1 tablespoon rubbed sage
Your electric stove

Fold the foil and gently set it on top of the smallest burner on your stove. Turn the heat to medium. Allow the burner to warm gently, then sprinkle the sage onto the foil.

Please be careful and watch this carefully. Do NOT leave it unattended. After the sage started to smoke, turn off the heat and just fan the smoke around the kitchen.

Ta-da! Kitchen smudged in an easy (probably none-too-smart) way.

I'd post a picture, but it kind of looks like I have pot on my stove. *L*

Haha... well, you do have a weed on your stove :)

Why would you use this method rather than a bundle of sage? Any significance to using your stove? I guess if you have rubbed sage handy and no bundle handy...

When I lived in Central Oregon I used to collect and make bundles of the sagebrush (Artemisia sage, not Salvia sage) and gave them to all my friends. I now have a couple pretty garden sage plants growing in pots so maybe there will be more sage bundles next year!

I used the rubbed sage because I don't have any smudge sticks :) I figured using the stove is also a nice kitchen witchy touch, a way of getting in contact with the spirit of the hearth.

I love this idea! I had a friend who would rest her stick of sage right on the element and let it burn, I like the aluminum foil idea better. Fantastic idea, thank you!

Just make sure the heat isn't too high or it will melt!
